Writing about music to me is like singing about woodworking. And by that I mean, sure, you can do it, but it's maybe not the best way to go. Music is for listening and seeing live. Music is for becoming the soundtrack of your life. It's not for analysis, weird descriptions and cutesy categorizing. ("I'm really into post-rock." Really? Post-rock? You mean after-rock? What comes after rock? Paper? Scissors? And don't get me started on post-metal, and post-whatever else is next. If your music is so different that it needs a new label, how about making up a new freaking name for it?)
Ahem. Pardon me.
I'm not here to write about music itself, but I am here to write about the experiences that music has given me over the years. Perhaps along the way there will be some news of current projects, shows, recordings, but mostly I'm looking to do some belated chronicling for my own amusement, and possibly for the amusement of at least 6 other people. Six.
You can expect haphazard, non-chronological posts written whenever the mood strikes, but I promise to at least try to keep the self-indulgence to a minimum.
If you're one of those six people..... enjoy.
